I am a people watcher, a beach comber, a treasure hunter. I wait for the subtle moments that are just a flicker and then they pass. When your smile lights up with the anticipation of watching your bridesmaids open the gifts you so thoughtfully chose for each one. Your dad’s eyes welling up with tears as he watches his son become a husband. Overflowing with the emotion of wanting his child to love fully and be loved well. Your sister twisting a kleenex, unsure if she should tuck it away or just hold it in her hands because she knows she’s going to need it anyways. When something catches your attention as the night draws to a close and you realize that it’s almost over. I see you take a second to stop, trying to just breathe in the moment because everything happens so fast. I can help preserve all of that.

Why I do it

weddings with stress and impossible expectations, I try to bring something different to the table....peace and calm. Everything is ok, just the way it is. You are beautiful. Here you are celebrating with your people, and I get to capture that magic. My job is to freeze little pieces of time, preserving those moments both heavy and bright with emotion so that when you pull your album off the shelf in 25 years, blow off the dust and start turning pages it will seem like it could have been yesterday.

That doesn’t happen by posing people in straight lines and inserting myself into the situation, but by noticing the fleeting glances across the room and the way the light falls across her face.

"My ultimate goal for the images I take is that when people look at them, memories of love and joy from the wedding day will come flooding back even decades later, and that they will see themselves shine the way I did."

When I walk into a room, I not only see things but feel them. It sounds strange, yes...but on wedding days it is everything. I believe that capturing authentic emotion is incredibly important. I’m not interested in staging, but in capturing a real connection between real people. On wedding days, I create space for people to just be themselves, to let their guard down a little and the result is natural, effortless, honest photographs.

My ultimate goal for the images I take is that when people look at them, memories of love and joy from the wedding day will come flooding back even decades later, and that they will see themselves shine the way I did. In our society, much of the time people associate weddings with stress and impossible expectations, I try to bring something different to the table....peace and calm. She has an effortless, timeless, natural style that is so beautiful. We only met in person with Erica once before our wedding day and she still was able to tap into who we are and captured our wedding day perfectly for us. That is something truly special. She was very professional and a pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end.

Erica is a photographer angel. She is all things perfect: low key, a good listener, patient, and extremely talented. She even brought us a bottle of champagne the first day we met her! What a doll. Our photos turned out to be absolutely AMAZING!

We knew after meeting her and seeing her work that there was no one else who would be a better choice. We didn’t even have a venue yet! She just has such a sweet personality, she is so humble and gracious about her amazing work.
