Hatcher Pass Road is only open for a few months of the year. For those who don’t know, this is the road that leads from the Independence Mine area to Summit Lake and beyond. Maybe the short season for access to this area is part of the reason why it is such a special place. Every Summer I can’t wait until that road is opened. We always take visitors there, love to hike and explore the area, and we’ve even just packed up lunch or dinner (or fika!) in a picnic basket and headed up there to enjoy it. Best. Place. Ever.
Jeline & Shawn decided we should go to Hatcher Pass, and I suggested April Bowl engagement photos. The best part was that they had never been to this specific spot and it is always so fun to show people new hikes, its like seeing it again for the first time yourself. The glacial pools and endless views are out of this world. Someday, if you haven’t already I hope you’ll see it for yourself.
