When my friends ask me to photograph their weddings I experience a mixture of excitement and dread simultaneously. Excitement because I love my job and wouldn’t want to let anyone else capture my beautiful friends…but dread because you *really* don’t want to screw up with friends! The pressure is on, you know? But at the same time, I couldn’t have imagined attending Julie and David’s wedding and watching someone else capture it.
As every one of their friends shared during the toasts, Julie and David are adventurers. They belong in the mountains and on the ocean, and they love creating unique and beautiful experiences for their friends. Hearing some of the stories of their adventures I realized that they don’t miss the little details that take an already awesome trip to the next level. Packing a volleyball net to set up on glacial beaches, or making sure they have only the most delicious food to cook in the middle of nowhere (chorizo for breakfast burritos, chocolate peanut butter pudding topped with wild strawberries…!) To me, that shows that they value adventure, yes but also fun and friendship and hospitality.
For Julie & David the rec. area at Government Peak was the perfect choice for a wedding venue, and shooting a Hatcher Pass Wedding will never lose its allure to me.
