Before it gets too much later in to 2018, here I am finally getting my 2017 recap out in to the blogosphere! This is something that I have done every year in my business and I have always loved it. However, this year it was hard for me to get to it for some reason. Today I sat down, set a 60 minute timer and just got down to business. The thing about 2017 was that it was the second busiest season I’ve ever had at 43 weddings/elopements – and over a hundred shoots. I haven’t shot that high of a volume of work since 2010 *before kids*! Looking back had me feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of photographs, so you can imagine how it felt at times in the midst of it all. This selection of images couldn’t be called my favorites from the year, but as I was scrolling back through I pulled images that spoke to me. Sometimes its like I’m noticing them for the first time, other times they are images that were instant favorites…but its always interesting to me to notice what grabs my attention and to think about why. I know that I’m drawn to honest emotion and to soft and glow-y light. I can’t deny the draw to exceptional beauty, in people, in things, in landscape. Trying to do justice to the beauty is one of my favorite parts of my job.
As always, in 2017 I worked with exceptional couples in gorgeous places with talented local vendors. My job isn’t something I take for granted and I hope that I’ll get to continue doing it for a long time. Thank you, my people for choosing me as your photographer! I wouldn’t be able to do this without your trust. If you made it all the way to the end of this post, kudos to you! I wanted to note once more that I’m limiting my bookings in 2018 to 25 weddings. I have ONE MORE SPOT…and a couple of inquiries in the works. I expect/hope to be booked up quite soon but if you are interested in booking that last one, don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m a firm believer in things happening as they are meant to happen, so I’m sure that the one I’m meant to shoot will happen at the perfect time. Alaska Adventure Wedding Photography
