There are a few places where Jamie & I are greeted by a ‘Welcome home!’ whenever we come back, and I am thankful to say Unalakleet is one of them. The best thing is that we really do find a sense of home there, and I hope that this village and the people there will be part of our lives forever. I first met Katiya 9 years ago when I came up to work at camp for a couple of weeks, she must have been about 15 at the time. Never in a million years would I have guessed that one day I would photograph her Unalakleet wedding Army Hill, walking down the aisle to marry a Swede who she met in Chicago…
Katiya & Thomas, your wedding was one for the books. If only tundra and the Bering Sea could be my backdrop a little more often! I hope that I captured the way that you two looked at one another on your wedding day…joy-filled to overflowing. I’m so happy for you both.

Roxanne Erickson flew in from Anchorage to beautify 10 women the morning of the wedding all by herself, she is pretty much a rockstar. }

    Your work has blown me away. I have now sent this post to two different people…..one because she lives in Ruby and I know that seeing a beautiful wedding with so many traditional/modern touches and the other because I think it is exactly what he is looking for…an album of memories without every photo being staged and stiff and so every wedding….I know how hard it is to get one picture out of 100 to be exactly what the artist is looking for…..so getting a full album of beauty over and over was your lucky day!!! Congratulations on your work and thank you for sharing such an intimate moment and moments with such beauty!!!! EXTRAORDINARY!!!
