I could not have asked for a better last wedding of 2010! I loved everything about it.
The venue Erik & Joanne chose was the Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook. The estate was recently bought by the parks district and is being restored, but it still has such fantastic character. When we first met last year Joanne mentioned that she would be doing a lot of wedding planning and prep herself, and she meant it! She had a hand in everything…the favors, florals, decor, etc. it was definitely a labor of love, and she did an amazing job.
The first thing that hit me when I walked into the Estate was the aroma of fresh cut pine…like a Christmas tree. Thats when I knew I would love this wedding.
Joanne’s dress was PERFECT for her. I loved the ivory and the green sash…she was simply stunning!Classic.See what I mean about character? This little stage is on the grounds of the estate, a theater group does live shows there during the summer. LOVE.
Ok Joanne? You’re gorgeous!I have to say, Joanne and Erik were troopers on their wedding day! It was pretty great weather for November, but still less than 50 degrees and windy. BUT that didn’t hold them back at all, and Joanne was hiking up her dress (she had long johns underneath) to trek into fields for shots like this:
This chapel was another gem on the estate. Endless photo opportunities…So happy!I loved the set up of their sweetheart table. It was a little room right off of the main room where all of the guests were sitting…made for an intimate dinner for two.Rather than a traditional wedding cake, Erik & Joanne opted for celebration cakes from Bittersweet Pastry Shop on Belmont in Chicago. They couldn’t decide on just one kind, so they had about 6 amazing different kinds of celebration cakes – delish.This was a fun twist on the ever-popular candy bar (which I do love…).There was also a photobooth at the reception, and Erik & Joanne had provided a box of fun props. Great reception entertainment…for all ages : )I love this shot, Erik looks like he couldn’t possibly be happier than at this moment.Erik & Joanne, I must admit I’m a little jealous that you’re soaking up the Jamaican sun right now…I hope I can lure you off the beach just for a little bit to check out your preview!
