This engagement session was unlike any other shoot I’ve done. This whole week thunderstorms have been on the forecast, and when I got in my car on Wednesday afternoon to drive to the Botanic Gardens it was clear that they were going to make an appearance at some point in the evening. Thankfully we got some shooting time before the downpour started…and then Phil & Angela were willing to get soaked. I wouldn’t have necessarily asked for it, but the rain added an element of authentic romance and spontaneity to their photos! So fun!Absolutely gorgeous!I love. love. loved Angela’s dress choices, they were perfect. This veil was worn by Phil’s mom on her wedding day, I love that Angela wanted to incorporate it into their engagement session. And it begins…!
As it goes with classic midwest thunderstorms, the sun broke through again 15 minutes later so we were able to keep shooting. The second half of the shoot was probably my favorite!
Most people wouldn’t look this good after being drenched like that…Phil & Angela aren’t most people.Botanic Gardens, bubbles, a vintage veil, thunderstorms, umbrellas, a sunset and a beautiful couple….what more could any photographer ask for? : )
Take away: This shoot could have bombed…there was thunder and hail and the heaviest kind of rain the midwest has to offer. Instead, because Phil & Angela were willing to roll with it the shoot was taken to a whole new level and their positive attitude made all the difference in the world!
