‘With Glowing Hearts’ is a phrase from the O Canada…they used it on a lot of signs around the city and I think it was definitely true! Canadians and especially British Columbians were so proud of our city, country and the athletes! It was such a cool experience to be down there.
The torch! It was beautiful to see…hard to take pictures of because they had a big fence around it with a small hole for taking pictures. It caused quite the stir, but I think by now they’ve replaced the chain-link with plexi glass.

This is the area right next to where the torch was set up – isn’t it beautiful?! This is why it says ‘beautiful British Columbia’ on our license plates…and this really isn’t the best of it, but you can see how the mountains surround everything, and we’re right on the water.

These are the people I toured the Olympics with…my husband Jamie, my mom, friends Oscar and Lina from Sweden and my dad. It was such a fun weekend.

Yes…the Americans have been very successful this time around. Congratulations! As long as the Canadian men take home the gold in Hockey, I don’t really care about all the other stuff. Although, women’s curling is close to my heart as well.

We went to a hockey game! Sweden vs. Belarus. Oscar and Lina were a little nervous there during the third period but THIS was there reaction when Sweden scored their last goal to seal the deal! Wow…I think the Swedes love their hockey just as much as the Canadians.

Look at all that Red and White!! A beautiful site to see. This was at a women’s curling game. If you’ve never watched curling, you should really give it a try…its really exciting! I used to play once a year as a family tradition on Boxing Day (if you don’t know what Boxing Day is, thats a whole other blog entry) and trust me, it takes much more skill than you think. When I was 12 I was told that I had a knack for it – could have been me out there with Cheryl Bernard 🙂

This is outside of the curling venue.

Spring is already coming there! I got to take my dog Lexi for a walk a couple of times…she’s not like other dogs.

One other thing I insist on doing every time I visit home is go to White Rock beach and get gelato. The beach is gorgeous, and the gelato is amazing! This couple moved from Italy to BC and opened their shop – Dolce Gelato. They make everything right there in the shop and it is soooo good…the only gelato I’ve had that lives up to the gelato I had in Italy. When Jamie and I got married in White Rock a couple of years ago we had our rehearsal dinner down the street from this shop, but then moved down to Dolce for dessert.

Its a pretty unique experience to go to the Olympics in your own home town! It was great to see Vancouver on display like that. We walked around downtown a couple of days and soaked up the atmosphere – I think they did a great job, and you couldn’t ask for better weather than what we had! I have TONS of pictures and I’m going to put more on my facebook page…I figured I shouldn’t go overboard on here.
