I’ve always been sort of an all or nothing kind of girl. In or out. Love or Hate. Yes or No…and I don’t often leave you wondering which it is.

If you asked my parents they’d probably tell you that I always knew exactly what I wanted…I remember more than once growing up when after I’d been talking (probably for too long) about one thing or another my dad would say a bit sarcastically “Erica, why don’t you tell us what you really think.” Because really, it wasn’t hard to tell what I thought, what I wanted or what I intended to do…I’d just say it.

That personality trait has stuck with me, and its been both a blessing and a curse. The ‘curse’ part has showed up lately in my seeming inability to rest – maybe I forgot how? In these past 6 months or so my life has really been lacking balance, because I’m working and busy all the time! Its no good! The thing is, I am all-in this business. I LOVE my work (remember…its love or hate and this, I love). I’ve felt incredibly blessed in my business this past year, and all of the growth I’ve seen has truly blown me away…and I spend a LOT of time working. This is good, right? To love my work? I definitely can’t complain about that.

However a person needs rest, and balance! Its the way we were created to be…to work hard and then take the time we need to rest. SO Jamie and I decided that we both need to have a sabbath day and stick to it. NO work, one day a week. And yes…I’ve already been caught looking at google analytics and checking email on my sabbath day…but I’m working on it!

And yesterday, I went apple picking! What a great way to rest, be outside and spend time with great friends. And the thing is…work was still here when I got home last night, and it was still here today…I can both love my work and take the time I need to rest.

Now I just need to stick to this plan of ours – thats the hard part!
