I knew from meetings with Mike & Lauren that they were going to be great to work with, a totally fun and laid back couple…and on Saturday I found out that their wedding parties were also lovely, and that they chose amazing vendors to work with – a winning combo for any wedding, if you ask me.
The getting ready photos took place at the gorgeous Dana Hotel downtown…and Lauren was glowing, see?
*Love* the dress/shoe combination…those Jimmy Choos are seriously my dream shoe.So sparkley…Gorgeous. Truly gorgeous, Lauren!I did shoot a little man-detail at the Dana as well…Reminiscent of Mad Men, no?
Mike & Lauren chose to do a classic First Look, which I love! I was waiting with Mike so that I could see Lauren approach, this part just gets me every time…such a sweet moment. Our first stop for group photos was at the river, I love using the bridges as backdrops because they’re just so Chicago…and the light down there is pretty amazing as well. This one is a favorite, for sure.
Shooting inside was necessary, because it was turnyourfingersintoicecubes cold on Saturday. So we headed to Union Station, which provides amazing light and great backdrops as well. They make a pretty good lookin’ group, don’t they?Gorgeous!I had to give a little more love to all of the shoes, because these ladies knew how to pick ’em…the bridesmaid dresses are gorgeous as well (the dress color is called teaberry).A candid moment. We did make it to one last spot in the West Loop before the ceremony. Mike & Lauren wanted something a little more urban industrial for a different feel, and personally I really like this kind of location…juxtaposing the amazing attire next to this backdrop really works, I think.Workin’ it…The ceremony and reception were held at the Newberry Library which is a gorgeous space inside and out.The ceremony was emotional right from the start, which I expected but still got me a little choked up…good thing I have the camera to hide behind.Love. This. Shot!! So happy.Precious. As Lauren said right after this “Nice touch, Michael.”The proud parents, watching Lauren & Mike be introduced as husband and wife for the first time. The wedding was catered & coordinated by Jordan’s Food of Distinction and they did an outstanding job. I spoke with the owner (Jordan) briefly and was so impressed by his relaxed kindness (you don’t always get from caterers at a busy reception), the day-of coordinator Marisol was also lovely and efficient…and to top it all off, the food was delicious.Probably my favorite shot of Lauren, there’s just something about it.The last vendor I’ll mention is DJ Sasha…who I loved. If you’re looking for a DJ he’ll blow you away, I promise!Mike & Lauren…thank you both for being the most sweet, fun & generous couple to work with! I wish you both all the best.
