I haven’t been really good about blogging this summer (except for weddings & engagements, obviously). Life has been so incredibly busy between work, travel and family that I just haven’t been able to fit blogging into my schedule. As much fun as I have had, the past few months have also been pretty draining. I feel like I haven’t had time to stop and just breathe, even when things do slow down I just can’t get my brain to stop.
Last week Jamie and I got the opportunity to visit Ultima Thule Lodge. The Lodge is on the only private land for miles and miles, in the middle of the Wrangell Mountains. The only way to get there is on a small bush plane. I can’t really describe how awesome this place is, but it was one of those life experiences I will never forget…and I wasn’t even technically as a ‘guest’ (I was there to photograph the lodge for their website). Aside from the breathtaking beauty, one of the best parts for me was the silence. You couldn’t help but slow down and disconnect for a little while, and that is exactly what I needed. I came home from two nights away feeling completely recharged, something I didn’t even expect to happen when we left but something that I am so grateful for!
Here are some images of our little getaway…starting with a beautiful drive to catch our plane in Chitina:
The main lodge…The view from our cabin window! This river is stinkin’ COLD! I got a brain freeze just wading across to the first sandbar.oops…my half of the heart broke.
Jamie wanted to scout out the blueberries on our way home, we picked enough for our first pie of the season!

Haha…best comment ever, Alicia.
OMG. These are like – unbelievable! Here are the thoughts going through my head:
1. THAT RAINBOW…..
2. Brr your feet do look cold!
3. That lodge looks so cozy!
4. I love that pic of Jamie and his sunglasses – it reminds me of one I love of you guys you have framed at your house from a ski trip (random and weird, I know!)
5. THAT PIE.
The end 🙂 Y’all look cute on vacation!
Christy…come visit! Seriously…you and James should plan a trip up here! You can explore away and use our house as your home base 🙂
