Last July Jamie and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary…which is so hard to believe! For me, this trip was the perfect balance of rest, pampering and adventure. I’m grateful that we had this chance to get away together, its so easy to forget to connect with each other when day to day routines get rolling.ย I know that the highlight for Jamie was the white water, but he didn’t exactly protest my need for an infinity pool either!
I have to say, I think we did pretty well seeing the best of what Costa Rica has to offer, and I would definitely recommend both stops to anyone. (This could be an amazing honeymoon trip for those of you who are looking!!) Our first hotel was Gaia Hotel & Reserveย in Manuel Antonio; an amazing, boutique hotel built up on a mountainside with a beautiful coastal and jungle views. They greeted us with fresh squeezed juices and cool towels and ushered us right to the pool…heaven. Our second destination was Rios Tropicales, a white water rafting outfit on the Pacuare River. This was my first time rafting and it. was. awesome. We will definitely do it again! We rafted down the river about 10 miles in class 3 and 4 rapids and then spent two nights at their rainforest lodge, miles from anything and an experience unlike anything we’ve done before. An unexpected bonus of our three days in the jungle was that we were absolutely disconnected…I haven’t slept so well in months, a good reminder to step away both mentally and physically a little more often!
