I looooooveeeee (hoping there is enough emphasis in that word for you to fully understand how much I mean it)  …I love anchorage newborn photography. Especially lifestyle sessions in people’s homes. For some reason when people inquire with me about possibly hiring me to photograph their new babies, I always feel like I need to give them a little backstory: Have you seen my past newborn shoots? I don’t use props or a studio, so it may look a little different than you imagine. Maybe I’ll just send you a couple of galleries to make sure that you like this style…etc. I know that my approach isn’t for everyone, and I’m ok with that! I really try to capture the feeling of bringing that tiny baby home for the first time. Its not so much about posing as it is about documenting emotions.
Sweet Reed belongs to my friends Lauren & David and I was really honored when they asked me to photograph their new family of three. If you have kids, you know how those first days and sometimes weeks can quickly become a blur. I think the blur happens because of a combination of utter exhaustion, hormones and the overwhelming newness of it all. Even if you think intentionally “I’m going to soak up every moment” somehow, a few years down the road things get pretty fuzzy. Being able to preserve those moments is what its all about for me. I love knowing that Reed will look at these in a few years and clearly see how loved he was right from the start.
